STEPHENS COUNTY, GA ( WSPA ) – A bear was euthanized in Stephens County, Georgia, after it was hit by a car, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
At around 5:30 a.m., the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a vehicle accident with an animal. Upon arrival, the driver of the car stated that she had hit a bear with her car.
At 7 a.m., dispatch then began receiving calls about an injured bear that was trying to climb an embankment in the area where the incident took place. Rangers of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) were called out to locate the animal.

Rangers determined that the bear, which was estimated to be around 300 pounds, had sustained severe and life-threatening injuries from the accident and that it would not be able to recover. A ranger on the scene then fired his weapon to euthanize the animal…
