‘I went out in public wearing wild NRA merch in liberal Atlanta — and here’s what happened’

The saying goes, “Dress to impress, even if the only place you’re going is your living room.” However, this time, I decided to take that saying and give it a little twist.

This weekend, while spending time in Atlanta , Georgia and attending the National Rifle Association ‘s annual meeting, I decided that I wanted to see what people would do and how they would react if they saw someone appearing to fearlessly wear merchandise from the controversial group .

After a busy day of running to and fro across 14 acres of convention space with every nook and cranny filled to the brim with guns , knives and even a few collectible item s, I found what I had been looking for. In a stand tucked away toward the back of the space, lurked a stall called Unapologetically American.

When I first saw the small stall and saw that they were offering a red shirt with Lucky the Leprechaun from the Lucky Charms brand cereal and the caption “Firearms,” I knew I had to buy it. However, I knew the outfit would not be complete without something boldly declaring, “Yes, I had been to the NRA, and I want everyone to know it.”…
