Atlanta Firefighters Tackle Early Morning Blazes in Two Neighborhoods with No Injuries Reported

Atlanta residents in two separate neighborhoods were awakened by the distressing glow of nearby fires early yesterday morning, as fire crews scrambled to deal with the emergencies. The first incident, as reported by FOX 5, occurred in a triplex on North Avenue in northwest Atlanta. Flames were visible shooting from the back of the building when crews arrived shortly after their 6 a.m. dispatch. All residents managed to quickly and safely evacuate, and firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, which resulted in damage from smoke, fire, and water. To the relief of many, the neighboring homes were not affected.

The other fire ignited before dawn at a northeast Atlanta apartment complex. According to Atlanta News First, this fire was contained to the building’s attached parking garage and did not spread to the residential units. Despite the dread-inspiring damage to three vehicles and a motorcycle, no one was harmed.

Resident Alonzo Davis shared his close call with FOX 5, reminiscing about how a neighbor’s pounding on his door had possibly saved lives. “Had it not been for him, we’d probably be inside burning up,” he said.
