Teen Fatally Shot and Another Injured in DeKalb County Gas Station Shooting as Suspect Remains at Large

Early Tuesday morning brought tragedy to a DeKalb County gas station where a 17-year-old lost his life and an 18-year-old suffered injuries due to a shooting incident. FOX 5 reports that the violence originated from an altercation that escalated, leading to the unfortunate event on the 6000 block of Hillandale Drive shortly after 2:15 a.m.

On arrival at the crime scene, authorities discovered the two teens with gunshot wounds. The 17-year-old was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital, while the 18-year-old’s condition has necessitated hospitalization. As part of the investigation, officials have released surveillance footage from inside the store that appears to show an exchange of gunfire among three individuals, according to information provided by a store employee to FOX 5.

In the wake of the shooting, local residents expressed their reactions. Quajanay White, a customer at the gas station, told FOX 5 she finds the prevailing gun violence to be “really crazy.” Another customer, Ray Nelson, suggested increased patrols might reduce such incidents and also relayed his view that limiting loitering outside the store could promote safety…
