Atlanta Woman Accused of DUI, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct at Kennestone

Izmanie Charles, 22, of Atlanta, is accused of driving under the influence and crashing into a wall, ripping the front bumper off and causing over $500 in damage on May 11 at 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of I-75 South and S. Marietta Parkway in Marietta. Charles failed to call 911 or remain on scene, according to an arrest warrant from the Marietta Police Department.

Charles was found hiding in the bushes about 500 feet away in the woods and in possession of the vehicle’s keys. She claimed that her friends were driving and had also run into the woods, but no one else was found, even with the help of a thermal imaging device from the fire department, according to the warrant.

Taken to Kennestone Hospital’s Emergency Room, Charles began to pull away from a police officer while being escorted to a hospital bed. When the officer attempted to gain better control of her with both hands, Charles abruptly spun 180 degrees snapping the officer’s right hand backward at the wrist, causing pain. Moments later, while police were attempting to cuff Charles to the bed, she snapped her right shoulder around multiple times, shouting and pinching the officer’s fingers between the chain and cuff, causing pain through the officer’s gloves, according to the warrant…
