Beloved taco chain Taco Mac forced to close flagship location after 50 years

A much-loved taco restaurant has closed its flagship store but the boss says it’s not the end of the story.

Taco Mac, a popular wing and beer spot in Atlanta’s Virginia-Highland neighborhood, has officially closed its doors after 46 years. The flagship restaurant served its final customer this week.

Despite the step back, the company is insisting that it is all part of a broader strategy for growth. Taco Mac CEO Harold Martin said: “This isn’t the end of the story – it’s a milestone in our journey. We’re deeply grateful for our roots in the Virginia-Highlands neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia, and we’re more excited than ever for what’s ahead.”

Taco Mac operated 27 locations across three states – Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama. There are plans to expand into additional states. Employees at the closing flagship store have been offered jobs at nearby locations…
