Bus driver allegedly kicked first grader off half a mile from home; stranger stepped in to help

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A DeKalb County mother is demanding answers and accountability after her 6-year-old daughter was allegedly forced off a school bus and left alone in the rain, nearly half a mile from home. The bus driver has been placed on administrative leave as the school district and police launch separate investigations into the incident.

Kaylani Davis, a first-grade student at Flat Rock Elementary School, was reportedly dragged off her school bus Monday morning by the driver, according to her and her family. The child was left alone in an unfamiliar area during a rainstorm and had to cross a busy street before a stranger noticed her cries for help and knew she had to step in.

“I’m in first grade,” Kaylani told 11Alive’s Angelina Salcedo. “And I’m 6 years old.”…
