Fired Lyft driver says he acted in self-defense after shooting passenger

ATLANTA — Robert Wallace is back home after spending 30 days behind bars, but the impact of what happened during one late-night Lyft ride is far from over.

“We don’t leave home in the daytime thinking we’re going to be in jail at night. I stayed there 30 days. It was heart wrenching,” Wallace said, sitting on his front porch just days after being released from jail.

According to Wallace, he picked up a couple from Atlantic Station and was en route to their destination when they asked him to turn around halfway through the trip. When he asked them to pay a little extra for the added distance, Wallace says things turned hostile…
