MCRAE-HELENA, Ga. (WGXA) — A Telfair State Prison inmate serving time for murder died while in custody on Monday, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
The GDC says Lester James Smith Jr’s body was turned over to the Telfair County coroner.
Smith was serving life without parole for a murder in Cobb County in 2008. The GDC did not share when and how Smith died, but his body will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab to determine his cause of death…
