DeKalb water bills to increase July 1; advocates question why affordability programs aren’t in place

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – On July 1, the first of 10 water rate increases goes into effect for DeKalb County residents.

The county is only “days away from an extreme rate increase, and none of the components within February’s affordability resolution are even close to being implemented, leaving DeKalb’s most vulnerable residents at grave risk,” said Kat Maddox, spokesperson for DeKalb Water Watch, which advocates for residents who cannot afford or who are behind on paying their water bills.
