Georgia man arrested for $880K theft from local school district

Lock Haven, Pa. — A man was apprehended in the Atlanta Airport for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a local school district. Authorities believe he was attempting to flee the country.

On June 3, Trooper Christopher Moore filed charges against Dimiriafor Amamkwe, 52, of Atlanta, GA related to a theft of about $881,302 from the Keystone Central School District. Authorities say the crime took place on or around Oct. 4.

Amamkwe is alleged to have orchestrated the theft by accessing the financial accounts of the school district unlawfully. The majority of the stolen funds were able to be recovered with the assistance of PSP and bank officials…
