Cherokee County man sentenced to 20 years for burning child with cigarette

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A Cherokee County man has been sentenced to 20 years after he burned a child with a cigarette, according to the Cherokee County District Attorney.

The case began on Feb. 29, 2024, when a social worker at the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta called 911. The boy, who was under 10 years old, told his counselor that Lior Talker, 44, pressed a lit cigarette into his back.

Hospital staff found a circular wound on the boy’s back, which turned out to be a second-degree burn, the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit said…
