Man Charged for Security Breach at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

A man has been charged with several offenses after breaching security at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport last Wednesday. Kevin Peters, 35, reportedly used tools to cut through the fence at the airport and entered a restricted air operations area. A 911 caller initially reported seeing a man using wire cutters on the fence, as described in a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta: “I see a gentleman. He was out here using wire cutters and cut the fence. He’s inside the airfield now. I’m looking right at him.”

The Atlanta Police Department’s Airport Special Response Team, along with K-9 officers and airport operations units, began searching for Peters. During the search, mistaken by an airport maintenance employee for some stranger, Peters was found lying in the grass near a runway and was arrested, according to the same source. The tools he used, including bolt cutters, were found nearby.

Peters initially gave a false name, but his identity was later confirmed through fingerprints. He was charged with criminal trespass, interference with government property, possession of tools during the commission of a crime, giving a false name, and criminal damage to property in the second degree. Additionally, he was found to have an outstanding warrant from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, as made known by Atlanta police…
