ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Several groups gathered on Tuesday to call for the release of Mario Guevara, a metro Atlanta-based Spanish-language journalist who was taken into ICE custody after being arrested at a protest in June.
The Committee to Protect Journalists, Guevara’s attorneys, Free Press, and the Georgia First Amendment Foundation are expected to speak at 10 a.m. at the Georgia State Capitol. Atlanta News First will stream their comments live.
Guevara, who came to the U.S. from El Salvador in 2004, was arrested on June 14 while covering a DeKalb County protest against President Donald Trump and his administration’s immigration enforcement operations…
