Windows shattered at senior center, paint store; Marietta man charged

Horace James Gilbert, 41, of Marietta, is accused of breaking into a senior apartment building and a paint store, according to arrest warrants from the Marietta Police Department.

On July 27 at 2:30 a.m., Gilbert threw a rock through the glass door at the Retreat at Dorsey Manor, 118 Haynes Street in Marietta. The Retreat at Dorsey Manor is an apartment building for seniors, ages 62 and up. After breaking the glass window and entering the building, Gilbert traveled to the other side of the business and threw a rock through a front window. Damages for the glass door exceed $1,500 and for the window exceed $500, according to the first warrant.

On July 27 at 4:40 a.m., Gilbert threw a brick through the glass front door of the Sherwin Williams Paint Store, 107 Waverly Way in Marietta. He then removed the remaining glass from the door with his hands before entering the business. Nothing was reported stolen from the store, according to the second warrant…
