ATLANTA — More Americans are browsing thrift racks and online resale sites — not just for the deals, but for the thrill of finding something unique. Rising prices and sustainability concerns are driving the shift, and the secondhand clothing market is now growing faster than traditional retail.
According to data from a recent ThredUp, an online thrift store, resale report, 58% of consumers said they bought used clothing in 2024, a record high from 2023. The overall U.S. secondhand apparel market is forecast to reach $74 billion by 2029, while the global market is expected to climb to $367 billion by then, the report added.
