4-Year-Old Girl Dies in Tragic Accidental Drowning at Atlanta Home

In what appears to be a tragic accident, a 4-year-old girl has died following an accidental drowning at an Atlanta home. Atlanta police responded to a distress call shortly after 2:40 p.m. on Saturday in the southeast area of the city. Found in a critical state, the young child was quickly rushed to a local hospital but sadly did not survive. Local news source 11Alive reported that the police had confirmed the drowning seemed accidental.

At the scene, police put up tape around a backyard pool at the residence, located on the 2700 block of Memorial Drive SE. A neighbor, Jack Bell, told 11Alive that he observed “A lady came out, she was in the front yard waving down a fire truck, and she seemed distraught. Just from some context clues, and stuff, I knew it didn’t look good. I saw the fire truck come in and rush to the back.” Emergency crews quickly to responded to the home, where the situation was immediately treated with urgency.

The residents of the house, according to reports, had only been in the neighborhood for approximately five months. Neighbors were aware of the family’s presence but had limited familiarity with them.
