$900K in drugs and cash, grenade launcher seized, US attorney says

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – 13 people were arrested and more than $900,000 worth of drugs and cash were seized in Athens and Atlanta on Tuesday, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.

According to U.S. Attorney William R. Keyes, a total of 17 people are facing charges in a drug trafficking ring that distributed fentanyl, cocaine and “other controlled substances” in Athens and surrounding communities.

The U.S. attorney said FBI agents executed search warrants in Athens, Atlanta and Jefferson. The warrants uncovered 26 guns including a grenade launcher, 26 kilograms of cocaine, 1.7 kilograms of fentanyl, 500 grams of methamphetamine, 5.14 ounces of crack cocaine, 2.4 pounds of marijuana, 128 controlled pharmaceuticals and an extra $63,000 in cash.

One indictment said 10 people conspired to distribute drugs from a home on Sartain Drive in Athens between January 2024 and May 2025. Another indictment accused six more people of conspiring to distribute fentanyl and cocaine beginning in October 2020.
