Inmate beaten for minutes in Cobb County jail; three men charged

Nathaniel Makail Jones, 26, of Calhoun; Antrevious Deshun Smith, 24, of Covington; and Shakim Tyleek Moore, 31, of Marietta, are accused of attacking another inmate at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 13, according to arrest warrants from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.

Jones, Smith and Moore were identified from dorm footage following another inmate upstairs to the top right quadrant before surrounding the man next to a bunk, which prevented him from moving freely. In the video, the victim is seen conversing with the trio. At approximately 5:32 p.m., Moore, who was standing behind the victim, delivers a closed-fist strike to the back of the victim’s head, according to the warrants.

Jones, Smith and Moore then begin to attack the victim. For several minutes, they deliver multiple closed-fist strikes, causing the victim to fall and hit his face on the metal bunk frame. While reviewing the footage, Moore stopped and walked away, while Smith and Jones continue to assault the victim. Jones attempted to drag the victim to the shower area, a known location for inmate fights. However, the victim held onto the bunk frame to resist being moved. Meanwhile, Smith continued to deliver several closed-fist strikes to the victim’s head and body, according to the warrants…
