Raccoon tests positive for rabies in DeKalb County

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the Ellenwood area, according to DeKalb County officials.

The raccoon was captured near Lincolndale Court, after which it was euthanized and tested positive for the virus, county officials said in a news release Wednesday.

Georgia is a rabies endemic state, meaning the virus is present all year long, so it’s not unusual for the county to report several rabies cases each year, officials said…
