Atlanta Murder Suspect Apprehended After High-Speed Chase and PIT Maneuver on Southwest Side

On the southwest side of Atlanta, a murder suspect led police on a high-speed chase before being apprehended. The Atlanta Police Department said Tremeico Quncell Watson, wanted on an active homicide warrant, was captured following a pursuit that ended near Campbellton Road and Camp Ground Road last Tuesday, Nov. 4, Fox5 Atlanta reported.

The chase began when Watson, driving a silver 2017 Ford Fusion, was spotted by officers near Melvin Drive SW. Ignoring attempts to pull him over, Watson sped through a residential area, driving recklessly, as police described. Using a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT maneuver), officers were able to halt the vehicle. Watson then fled on foot but was caught shortly after, per Fox5 Atlanta.

Another individual, Torrance Ray Hampton Jr., was discovered in the car and detained without resistance. Authorities found a firearm within the vehicle, the details of which remain under investigation. Watson and Hampton were transported to APD headquarters for questioning, and it was confirmed that Watson’s charges will include felony fleeing, reckless driving, and obstruction. “He will be transferred to the Fulton County Jail once the homicide investigation is complete,” the police stated in a release.
