Teen Girl Fatally Shot While Waiting for Uber After Thanksgiving Gathering, Police Say Motive Was Taunts Over Her Late Boyfriend

Clayton County, Georgia – A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed while waiting for an Uber after a Thanksgiving gathering, and investigators say the attack stemmed from ongoing taunts over her continued grief for her late boyfriend. The accused shooter, a 15-year-old boy, is now in custody facing multiple felony charges.

What Investigators Say Happened

According to Clayton County police, the shooting occurred on Nov. 27 as Taylor Hamilton, 16, stood outside a home wearing earphones and waiting for her ride. A group of teens at the gathering had reportedly been mocking her throughout the day because she continued to honor the memory of her boyfriend, who had previously died.

Her mother, Nandi Hamilton, said Taylor had attended the gathering believing she was among friends but soon became the target of taunts that escalated into violence.

Hamilton described the moments before the shooting, sharing doorbell camera video of her daughter quietly waiting for her Uber, which she said was only minutes away.
