Atlanta saw fewer killings in 2025, continuing a multi-year decline in homicides. Still, other categories of violent crime — including aggravated assaults and robberies — rose, according to new data from the Atlanta Police Department.
Preliminary figures show at least 96 homicides were reported in 2025, down from 125 in 2024. The number marks a sharp drop from the city’s recent highs of 170 in 2022 and 161 in 2021, based on weekly police data reports and 11Alive’s analysis.
