Woman sentenced to two years for aiding scammers by impersonating law enforcement

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A woman from Atlanta is being sentenced to two years in prison for aiding scammers by pretending to be a law enforcement officer.

According to a release, Ariel Burden, 33, was a member of a group that called victims from phone numbers that appeared to be associated with local law enforcement.

The group, known as “spoofers,” would claim to be law enforcement and would tell victims that they had outstanding warrants for missing court appearances…
