CHAMBLEE, Ga. — A shooting involving a police officer and a shoplifting suspect near a popular Walmart in Chamblee is under investigation on Thursday afternoon, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
Officers were called to Walmart, 5170 Peachtree Road, for a shoplifting call just before 4 p.m. They encountered the suspect in the store, and after a brief struggle, the suspect ran out of the Walmart into the parking lot of The Oliver apartment complex.
Chamblee Police Chief Michael Dieppa said that the suspect, Travis Damonta Harris, 29, pulled out a gun, and he was then engaged by officers, where he was shot, and later died from his injuries…
