Mableton man accused of brutal assault on schizophrenic inmate at Cobb Jail

Nehemiah Quante Pearson, 31, Mableton, is accused of assaulting a schizophrenic inmate on Jan. 3 at 10:25 p.m. at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.

Pearson struck the victim with closed fists 16 times until the victim fell down onto the concrete floor. Pearson then straddled and struck the victim 19 more times with a closed fist before stomping on the victim’s head twice and once on the neck. The victim had been diagnosed as schizophrenic for at least three years and been housed in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to the warrant.

Pearson is charged with aggravated assault weapon; unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution; simple batter harm; and exploit a disabled or elderly person or healthcare shelter. He was arrested on Dec. 11 at 12:10 p.m. on theft by shoplifting charges and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
