Road conditions across northern Georgia as ice starts to form after freezing rain fell overnight

GEORGIA, USA — Ice is starting to form on some roads in metro Atlanta after freezing rain fell overnight.

11Alive’s traffic team, Rachel Cox-Rosen and Doug Turnbull, are reporting on the outlook of travel conditions across the areas as ice accumulates on some powerlines, trees and streetlights. The formation of the icicles could lead to downed power lines, power outages and trees falling down.

As more ice accumulation is seen and starts forming on the roadway, residents are urged not to get on the road to drive vehicles until it has been deemed safe. If driving is necessary due to an emergency, follow these driving tips for a better commute…
