DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Emails obtained by 11Alive show a blunt exchange between DeKalb CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson and Sheriff Melody Maddox over the three inmates who escaped from the county jail in December.
On Dec. 22, Cochran-Johnson sent an email to Maddox expressing concern about the inmates, Stevenson Charles, 24, Yusuf Minor, 31, and Naod Yohannes, 25, who were discovered missing during a morning routine security check.
The men were arrested in Miami almost 24 hours after their escape, after kidnapping a Lyft driver. Authorities said the group received help from outside the jail, including Minor’s girlfriend, who allegedly requested the Lyft ride shortly after 2:30 a.m. Monday…
