Convicted child molester sentenced to prison for impersonating an officer, possessing gun

ATLANTA — An Atlanta man, who is a convicted child molester, is headed to federal prison after authorities say he impersonated a police officer.

Information presented in court revealed that in April 2024, an off-duty Atlanta Police sergeant at a gas station saw 34-year-old Fredrick Crawford armed and wearing a uniform labeled “Fugitive Task Force.”

According to the sergeant, Crawford was arguing with customers, claiming he was a police officer, and repeatedly threatened to issue tickets. When the sergeant, concerned by what he saw, confronted Crawford, he suspected Crawford was not a real police officer and flagged down two nearby marked APD vehicles…
