An adult male was shot last Monday afternoon at the Decatur Library and was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to local authorities. Police said the suspect was taken into custody and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
According to the DeKalb County release, Decatur Police officers responded to the library at 215 Sycamore Street around 5:10 p.m. and found the victim at the scene. The man was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he remains hospitalized. Police arrested 44-year-old Medicus Brown, who is charged with aggravated assault with intent to murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The library was closed through Monday, February 9, to support staff and address security concerns, according to a statement from the DeKalb County Government.
