Suspect Arrested After SWAT Standoff on Cheshire Bridge Road as Two Atlanta Officers Are Injured

An hours-long SWAT standoff on Cheshire Bridge Road ended with an arrest yesterday after two Atlanta police officers were injured. Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 7:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

Police said officers were allowed into an apartment by the property owner, where a suspect began firing a weapon. The incident escalated into a standoff that lasted several hours.

One officer was grazed in the head by a bullet, and another suffered shrapnel injuries. Both were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, treated, and later released. WSB-TV reported that Atlanta Police Major Pete Malecki confirmed the officers’ injuries were not life-threatening…
