Kristopher Howard Ricketts, 36, of Marietta, is accused of felony escape and driving under the influence, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.
Ricketts was found asleep behind the steering wheel of a 2018 black Ford Explorer with the vehicle in drive at the intersection of Roswell Road and Cobb Parkway on Feb. 1 at 9:26 a.m. He woke up and put the car in park, looked at the police officer, put the car in drive and then drove through the intersection while the traffic signal was red. He fled at high speed on Roswell Road. Another officer found the vehicle traveling on Johnson Ferry Road going 90 mph in a 40 mph zone, weaving in and out of traffic, according to the warrant.
Ricketts admitted to operating the vehicle while he was under the influence of Ativan that he received prior to leaving Kennestone Hospital at 7 a.m. He was placed under arrest and transported back to the hospital where he requested his handcuff be moved to a different position.
