A new affordable housing community for seniors is soon to open in Decatur. The community is supported by funding from multiple partners, and construction was completed in June 2025. It is the Phase II of the Decatur East development and offers convenience to its residents.
Decatur Welcomes New Affordable Housing for Seniors
The Link at Columbia Senior Residences, an 80-unit affordable housing community for seniors aged 62 and older, is to open in Decatur on February 12. The transit-oriented development reflects the successful completion of Phase II of the Decatur East development. To celebrate the occasion of its opening, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held.
The Link at Columbia Senior Residences features a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments that come with modern amenities. Construction began in January 2024 and was completed in June 2025. The project received Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and is supported by funding from multiple partners.
The community comprises 88% LIHTC units and includes Project-Based Voucher Assistance for 24 LIHTC units. These are at both 30% and 50% AMI levels. 29 units are designated HOME units, and 10 units are unrestricted market-rate units…
