A collision on Interstate 285 southbound in DeKalb County brought traffic to a standstill yesterday morning when an 18-wheeler truck and a sedan were involved in a crash. The incident, which occurred before the US 287/Covington Highway south intersection, required a complete closure of the roadway while emergency response teams and cleanup crews addressed the situation.
Echoing the severity of the incident, all lanes remained temporarily blocked as the crash, according to FOX 5 Atlanta, involved a tractor-trailer and led to a fuel spill cleanup operation by first responders. In an appeal to motorists, police encouraged avoiding the area while the blockage persisted.
Later in the day, the blocked lanes found their path to reopening as the DeKalb County Police Department managed to clear the debris-laden roadway. Traffic cameras captured the aftermath, showing emergency vehicles stationed amidst the halted flow of cars.
