Local car theft case ties into nationwide case
An Atlanta man is in custody after stealing nearly a dozen vehicles with fraudulent cashier’s checks across the country. One of those vehicles was from a local dealership.
According to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, Wesley Aldine Walker, 62, had a Honda CRV from Tutton CDJR of Jasper delivered to him on January 17 and gave the driver a fake $35,000 check. The dealership reported the fraudulent check to authorities on January 24.
“During the course of the investigation, Pickens detectives discovered that Walker is connected to more than 11 stolen vehicles nationwide,” a Pickens Sheriff’s Office press release states. “In each case, fraudulent cashier’s checks were used to purchase the vehicles.”…
