A deadly encounter has unfolded outside a shuttered Atlanta dental office, placing 73-year-old David Mays at the center of a murder investigation after he allegedly shot and killed 37-year-old Monterio Spurling. On the afternoon of February 14, Mays, a retired dentist, received a security alert from his Ring app, driving him to confront what he believed to be an ongoing intrusion at his former business located in the 3400 block of Martin Luther King Drive SW, as reported by FOX 5.
Upon arriving at the dimly lit property, May claims to have encountered Spurling and, driven by fear, discharged several rounds from his Sig Sauer 9mm pistol towards the individual, four consecutive shots followed by a single shot four seconds later this sequence of events was captured in Ring camera footage; it was later confirmed by the WSB-TV, culminating with Spurling succumbing to the gunshot wounds.
