The incident began when Lil Poppa, whose real name was Janarious Mykel Wheeler, crashed his car south of Hapeville. The vehicle remained drivable, prompting him to contact his manager for advice on next steps.[1]
They arranged to meet in the parking lot of a nearby Hilton Hotel. Wheeler stayed inside his damaged car and spoke to the manager through the open window.
