Ga. Senate unanimously passes bill to rein in HOA abuse of power

ATLANTA, Ga. – State senators unanimously approved a bill designed to regulate the power of homeowners associations (HOAs) in Georgia.

On Wednesday, Georgia state senators passed SB 406, a bill that would assign oversight to the Secretary of State’s office and raise the foreclosure threshold from $2,000 to $4,000 in unpaid association dues, not including fines or fees.

A substitute in the bill also allows foreclosure if dues have not been paid in 12 months and the amount exceeds $2,000…
