Carroll County officials say a Carroll County Jail inmate who was indicted on 8 counts of aggravated assault for his role in a 2023 shooting in Carrollton… and is awaiting trial in Fulton County – where he is accused of murdering his 2-year old son – started a fire on the maximum security floor in the jail Friday evening.
According to Carroll County officials…
“On March 6, 2026, detention deputies responded to the maximum security floor after reports of a possible fire. Upon arrival, deputies observed a fire inside a cell and immediately began relocating inmates to a safe area while notifying the Fire Department. Heavy smoke filled the cell block as deputies opened the cell and removed the inmate, Artavious North, who briefly resisted before being secured…
