Former sheriff who had successor murdered dies in prison

A former DeKalb County sheriff serving a sentence of life in prison for orchestrating the murder of his elected successor has died.

According to multiple news sources, Sidney Dosey died March 2 at the age of 86 while behind bars. Dorsey was convicted of malice murder after recruiting a group of men to kill new sheriff-elect Derwin Brown in 2000.
