Georgia man sentenced for negligent homicide connected to Arkansas rest stop death

OZARK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Georgia man pleaded guilty to reduced charges after he was found responsible for a man’s death at an Arkansas rest stop last year.

Darrius Simmons, 31, of Duluth, Ga., pleaded guilty on March 6 to negligent homicide, theft of property and duty to give information and render aid charges.

Court records show Simmons was previously accused of first-degree murder; however, the charge was reduced to negligent homicide.

He was also facing an aggravated robbery charge, but it was nolle prossed, meaning he was no longer prosecuted on that charge…
