Man arrested after road rage incident on I-985

A Fulton County man was arrested near Buford yesterday after authorities said he was involved in a road rage incident on Interstate 985 while driving a tractor-trailer.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the 985 Southbound off-ramp at Exit 8 at Friendship Road just before 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 12. The alleged victim in the case was driving southbound on the interstate and merged into the left lane to try to pass the truck driven by Malik Garfield Burton, age 34 of East Point.

“The truck driver then moved into the victim’s lane, almost pushing the victim’s car off the road,” a statement from the sheriff’s office said. “The driver of the car got away from the 18-wheeler, but the truck driver began to follow him closely, nearly causing a crash.”

The two then continued southbound on the interstate, eventually pulling off onto the off-ramp at Friendship Road with the truck in front of the alleged victim’s car. The sheriff’s office said the confrontation continued while the two were stopped there…
