Appeals court sides with Cobb student in legal battle over suspension

The Georgia Court of Appeals has overturned a Cobb Superior Court decision that upheld the suspension of a Cobb student as part of a years-long legal battle.

The decision follows a long line of reviews and appeals, stemming from an incident in August 2023, resulting in a suspension of a North Cobb High School student.

The student, identified as K.B. in court documents, was suspended during his sophomore year at North Cobb after school resource officer Nina Daniels and assistant principal Matt Williams observed K.B. in a Dodge Charger “speeding, revving its engine, and spinning its tires as it drove by the street in front of the school in heavy traffic,” according to the filing…
