ATLANTA — Tyler Perry was seen at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport trying to hand out a ‘significant’ amount of money to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers, sources tell 11Alive.
The media mogul was handing out money to lift some financial strain off the workers during the government shutdown. Since the shutdown started on Feb. 14, TSA agents have not been receiving a paycheck. Even though this generous gesture would help the TSA officers immensely during the government shutdown, they were not allowed to accept it due to some restrictions.
A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson stated that TSA officers are prohibited from accepting gifts at screening locations, according to a report from the Associated Press. However, Aaron Barker, president of the AFGE, said TSA officer unions don’t have the same restrictions and can accept donations to distribute to their members, AP reports…
