Construction worker fell about 15 feet into manhole in downtown Atlanta, fire officials say

ATLANTA — A worker is recovering at the hospital after Atlanta Fire and Rescue said he fell into a hole while working in downtown Atlanta.

The incident happened at the corner of Shirley Franklin Boulevard and Trinity Avenue. Emergency crews were called to the scene to rescue the worker after he reportedly fell off a ladder and into a large hole.

According to Atlanta Fire, the manhole was about 15 feet and the worker was trapped below grade. Crews used a stokes basket to safely extricate the worker from the hole, fire officials said…
