Residents of Northeast Georgia should be wary of a toll violation scam in Fulton County that is making its way through the community.
The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office said the scammers send text messages about a fabricated upcoming court hearing that include a QR code.
Residents are advised not to scan the QR code and delete the message.
The sheriff’s office said traffic citations are not sent via text messages, legitimate toll violations are mailed with proof, drivers who have not been in Fulton County can be confident they did not commit one and messages from random phone numbers or email addresses are typically scams…
