Atlanta mayor says gruesome unsolved 2021 murder of woman in Piedmont Park was driving force to install more cameras

ATLANTA โ€” It’s been nearly five years since an Atlanta woman and her 3-year-old dog were found stabbed to death inside Piedmont Park.

After a recent homicide at the park, where a 16-year-old girl was shot and killed on Saturday night, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said that the 2021 death of 40-year-old Katie Janness sparked change to add more security cameras within the park to increase safety.

Janness and her dog, Bowie, were found gruesomely stabbed at the entrance to the park in the early hours of July 28, 2021. The case remains unsolved with no arrests announced and a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest…
