Marietta man accused of pistol-whipping victim on Atlanta Road

Martin Benitez-Mantilla, 44, of Marietta, is accused of pistol whipping a victim with a handgun on April 17 at 10:39 p.m. at 1241 Atlanta Road in Marietta, near the intersection with Austell Road, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

Witnesses said they observed a bald, Black man wearing glasses and a red shirt attack and pistol whip the victim. The description matched Benitez-Mantilla. A witness said Benitez-Mantilla approached the victim, striking him in the face and then used the handgun to strike him. The witness then observed multiple men attack the victim, according to the warrant.

When police spoke to Benitez-Mantilla about the incident, he said: “(The victim) beat my nephew up.”…
