Video shows horrific crash of spectators hit after car loses control during drifting exhibition in Cobb County

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Tire marks still cover the pavement at an industrial business park near Six Flags Over Georgia, where a dangerous car meetup turned violent Sunday night when a driver lost control during a drifting stunt and plowed into a crowd of spectators.

Newly obtained video shows the terrifying moment unfold. Police said the crash happened toward the end of the event, where barriers had been set up along a tree line as cars performed drifting maneuvers — a driving technique where the driver intentionally oversteers while maintaining control. In this case, police said control was lost.

Footage from the scene captures a 2009 Pontiac accelerating before veering off course, smashing through a barrier and into a group of onlookers. In one angle, a person can be seen partially hanging out of the rear passenger window moments before impact.
