Aiken proposal to raise hospitality tax sparks business concerns

AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) — The City of Aiken could soon ask restaurant-goers to pay a little more at the register. City leaders are discussing raising the hospitality tax.

“It adds to the price of restaurant meals and prepared foods. So, for groceries, it does not apply tax,” Aiken City Manager Stuart Bedenbaugh said.
